As a consequence of the speculations initiated in public about the termination of the appointment in management positions of some prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate, The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Proesecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to the public knowledge the following:
The General Prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice ordered, on 02.10.2013, the termination of the appointment of Mr. Lucian Papici in the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Department of Fighting Against Corruption and the appointment in the same position of Mrs. Iuliana Bendeac.
Also, at the same time, it was ordered the termination of the appointment of Mrs. Mariana Alexandru the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Department of Fighting Against Corruption and the appointment in the same position of Mr. Viorel Cerbu.
Simultaneously, the appointment of Mrs. Elena Matieºescu was upheld in the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Criminal Justice Section, as welll as the appointment of Mr. John Alexander in the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Section of Fighting Against Corruption offenses committed by military personnel.
The ordered measures took into consideration the fact that the Minister of Justice sent the Superior Council of Magistracy the proposals of appointment in management positions at the National Anticorruption Directorate, as follows:
• Mrs. Juliana Bendeac in the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Department of Fighting Against Corruption;
• Mr Viorel Cerbu in the position of Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Department of Fighting Against Corruption;
• Ms. Elena Matieºescu in the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Criminal Justice Section;
• Mr. John Alexander in the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Department of Fighting Against Corruption offenses committed by military personnel.
Thus, it was ensured the continuity and an enhanced managerial efficiency, in the perspective of presentation of the proposed candidates for the interview.
