PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

A criminal case concerning the incident that resulted in the assault of a minor (aged 11) by a noncommissioned police officer from the Dolj County Gendarmerie Inspectorate who was outside his working hours, was docketed at the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Craiova Local Court following an ex officio note by the prosecutors from the respective Prosecutor’s Office.

The preliminary investigations revealed that, on February 26, 2012 around 3:00 PM, because the police officer refused to allow the injured party to wash the rear window of his car, the latter slapped the car body with the palm of her hand, to which the police officer reacted by getting out of the car and assaulting the minor.

Following the medical legal examination, the minor was diagnosed with cervical and lumbar spinal concussion without any posttraumatic bone or abdominal lesions.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances of the case and establish the legal liability.
