The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

Following up the investigations in the cause regarding the murder of the student of Japanese nationality, the prosecutors of the Section for criminal pursuit and forensics within the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice have identified the photo camera belonging to the victim.

According to the evidence brought into the cause until this moment of the criminal pursuit, resulted the fact that the defendant has sold this camera to a person, who has been identified and who recognized the defendant as being the person from whom he has bought it. The photo camera has been seized from this person being, subsequently, recognized by the parents of the victim ( who came to Romania), as belonging to her.

Also, the investigations carried out in the cause led to the identification of the mobile phone, belonging to the victim.

At the same time, the prosecutors within the Section of criminal pursuit and forensic have ordered the judicial expertise of DNA type, following that at the moment of the communication of its result, this one to be brought to the public knowledge.

We mention that based on the evidence brought into the cause until now, the defenbdant VLAD NICOLAE has been arrested for a period of 29 days, beginning with 19.08.2012, measure against which the defendant VLAD NICOLAE declared recourse, which shall be judged tomorrow, by the magistrates of the Court of Appeal Bucharest.

As the investigations are carried out, we shall inform the public.
