The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

The prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to Piteşti Court of Law ordered the detention of the underage defendant O.A. (aged 17), for a 24 hours period, in the context of  committing the offences of outrage and outrage against morality and disturbance of public order and safety; the defendant is to be presented to the court during the day of 17/01/2012, that is today, with the proposal of preventive arrest.

The evidence administered in the case, until the present, led to the conclusion that, on the evening of 16.01.2012, around 20:00 hours, being in the central area of Piteşti Municipality (Vasile Milea Square), in a larger group of protesters, the defendant threw a stone from the ornamental arrangements within the area and broke the window of the Trade Unions’ House. Subsequently, under the same circumstances, while he was in the area of the Central Post Office of the same town, he gave a blow in the facial area to a gendarme who was performing his duty, causing him corporal lesions that require 15 days of medical care (nasal pyramid fracture with dislocation).

 Investigations are underway in order to determine all the circumstances of the case and for the establishment of the legal responsibility.
