The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to Constanţa Tribunal ordered, on 15.05.2012, the commencement of the prosecution towards the defendant GHERGHESAN PETRE under the aspect of perpetrating the offences of illegal deprivation of liberty and attemptive to aggravated murder.

At the same time, the prosecutors ordered the setting into motion of the criminal action and the detention for 24 hours of the defendant, following to be presented to Constanţa Tribunal with a proposal for preventive arrest for a period of 29 days.

From the evidence administered in the case, up to this moment of the prosecution, it resulted the fact that the defendant, conducted by a revenge feeling, went to the house of his ex-concubine, in a locality from Constanţa County, where he waited for the underaged A.M. (2 years and 7 months old) and, taking advantage of the lack of surveillance, kidnapped and took him to the riverbank of Danube – Black Sea Channel, around Ovidiu locality.

In this place, the defendant Gherghesan Petre led the underaged into a cave, he tied him by the hands and feet and abandoned him, being convinced that no one would find the child, for several days until he would have managed to determine one of the underaged’s sister to revive the concubinage relationship, concluded by her approximately a week ago.

Investigations are underway in order to determine all the circumstances of the case and to establish the judicial responsibility.
