PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu Jiu Local Court instituted criminal proceedings against the following defendants (in custodial arrest) and requested their pretrial arrest:

• Doru-Vasile PIRICI, for robbery and break-in;
• Vasile BREBEN, for colluding in aggravated theft;
• The minor T.V.A. for robbery, break-in, and colluding in aggravated theft.

The magistrates from the Târgu Jiu Local Court granted the prosecutors’ request and issued preventive arrest warrants against the minor defendant -for 19 days, against the defendant Doru-Vasile Pirici - for 29 days, and against the defendant Vasile Breben - for 10 days.

The evidence produced in this case so far revealed the following:

On the night of April 22/23, 2012, around 12:30 AM – 1:00 AM, the defendants Doru-Vasile Pirici and the minor T.V.A., under the influence of alcohol, broke into the room where the injured party T.C. (aged 82) was sleeping, threatened her with a gun and stole the amount of 900 lei and a mobile phone from her.

Also, on the night of March 1/2, 2012, the defendant B.V.D. broke into a restaurant in Târgu-Jiu using the right keys and stole the amount of 9,763 lei from a desk with the help of the defendants Vasile Breben and the minor T.V.A.

Investigations are carried out to clarify the circumstances and establish the legal liability.
