PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Maramureş Tribunal launched the criminal prosecution against the defendant Vasile BELA for rape and sexual corruption.

The prosecutors also submitted to the court a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendant. The request was granted by the Maramureş Tribunal who issued a warrant for the pretrial arrest of the defendant for 29 days.

The evidence produced so far in this case by the criminal investigation has revealed the following:

Between November 2011 and April 2012, the defendant Vasile Bela had sexual intercourse by force with the injured party B.I.L. (his daughter aged 13) and committed obscene acts in her presence.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances and establish the legal liability.

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu-Jiu Local Court submitted to the court a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendant Ovidiu Daniel VÎLCEANU (in detention) for sexual corruption (2 acts).

The magistrates of the Târgu-Jiu Local Court granted the prosecutors’ request and issued a warrant for the pretrial arrest of the defendant for 15 days.

The evidence produced in this case so far has revealed the following:

On January 16, 2012 around 13:00 hrs, while he was inside the entrance of an apartment building in the Târgu-Jiu Municipality, the defendant Ovidiu Daniel Vîlceanu committed obscene acts in the presence of the injured party T.R.G. (a minor aged 10), namely he exposed his genitals in front of her.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances and establish the legal liability.
