PRESS RELEASE

 

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

 

Having in view the release of the Constitutional Court from 02.08.2012 regarding the contradictory data received from the public authorities concerning the number of persons existing  on the permanent election lists, at the  Criminal Pursuit and Forensics Section within the  Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice has been constituted a criminal cause, where in there are carried out investigations related to  the content of the  permanent election lists and of the  supplementary lists used  during the  referendum  of 29 July 2012.

In order to carry out the investigations with celerity, the prosecutors of the Criminal Pursuit and Forensics Section  have requested the copies of the permanent election  lists and of the  supplementary lists with the signatures of the electors, in original, from the  Permanent Election  Authority and from the commercial company designated to realize the  technical procedures.

The commercial company designated to realize the technical procedures according to art. 431 par. 5 of the Law no. 3/2000 with subsequently  changes and completions, has provided the  prosecutors with the requested documents.

We specify that  all documents have been received and are kept  at the seat  of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, according  to the provisions of the  decision of the  Central  Election office regarding the technical operations  to be realized  for the centralization  of the results of the referendum.

There have been ordered the necessary measures for the fulfilling of the activities foreseen by art. 431 par. 5 of the Law no. 3/2000 with subsequently changes and completions.

The  collected documents are necessary  for carrying out of the  criminal pursuit  activities.

As the  investigations are going on, we shall inform the public.
