PRESS RELEASE

          The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

In furtherance of the investigations into the case concerning the kidnapping of 2 minor girls resulting in the death of one of them and the serious injury of the other, prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Caraş-Severin Tribunal launched, on October 1, 2012, the criminal prosecution against the defendant Iancu MĂRAN, taking him into custody for murder and attempted murder.

Today, October 2, 2012, he will be brought before the court with a request for a 29-day pretrial arrest.

The evidence produced so far in this case revealed the following:

On the evening of September 30, 2012, around 8:00 PM, the defendant performed violent acts on the two minor sisters, stabbing them several times with a knife around the neck and in the thorax area, the lesions leading to the death of the victim F.A.I. and endangering the life of the second victim F.C.M.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances and establish the legal liability.
