The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

        Today, July 29, 2011 prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Constanţa Tribunal have filed a request for the pretrial detention for 29 days of the defendant SELIM ATIGE for assault and battery, illegal deprivation of liberty and bad treatment of minors, and of the defendant CHERCHEZ RUBIE for the offence of illegal deprivation of liberty.

        The evidence produced so far by the criminal investigation carried out in this case shows that the two defendants illegally deprived of liberty the minor S.C. (daughter of the defendant Selim Atige) chaining her to a bed in a lodging located in the locality Valu lui Traian. The investigation has also revealed that the defendant Selim Atige assaulted the minor several times, the resulting injuries requiring 8 – 9 days of medical care.
