PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

On September 24, 2011, prosecutors from the Vaslui Tribunal submitted to Court a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendant Gheorghiţă JURAVLEA for the rape of a minor. The magistrates of the Vaslui Tribunal granted the prosecutors’ request and ordered the arrest of the defendant for 30 days.

The evidence produced so far in the case revealed that, on the evening of September 21, 2011, the defendant lured the victim (aged 8) into his home where, through violence and threats, had sexual intercourse with him.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances of the case and determine the legal liability.
