The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

On September 19, 2011, prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Suceava Local Court ordered the institution of a criminal investigation against the defendants Dumitru LĂCĂTUŞU, Mureş LĂCĂTUŞU, Florin OŢEL and Constantin STĂNESCU for illegal deprivation of liberty, submitting a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendants.

The magistrates from the Suceava Local Court granted the prosecutors’ request and ordered the pretrial arrest of the defendants for 29 days.

The evidence produced so far in the case has revealed that, on September 18, 2011 around 6:00 PM, in a locality in the Suceava County, the defendants kidnapped the injured party S.P. aged 13 illegally depriving her of liberty, requesting a 1,000 lei ransom for her release.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances of this case.
