The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

A criminal case was registered at the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Buftea Court of Law on 15.11.2011, for the perpetration of the offense of ill-treatment of children.

The first investigations revealed the fact that on 02.10.2011, the minor M.M. was hospitalized at the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children, diagnosed with third-degree burn by exposure, on his head, neck and right hand, three hours after it had happened.

When the incident occurred, the minor was with his father in their house, sleeping in a room in which there was an improvised electric hot plate.

The father of the minor, named M.F., mentioned that when the incident took place, he and his underage child were sleeping, and that the latter probably woke up and fell off the bed on the improvised electric hot plate.

Investigations are underway in order to clarify all the factual circumstances and establish the criminal liability.
