PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

On October 8, 2011, prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Braşov Tribunal for Minors and Family submitted a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendant Adrian Ovidiu JORĂSCU (in detention) for rape. The Tribunal magistrates granted the prosecutors’ request and issued a 29-day pretrial arrest warrant against the defendant.

The evidence produced in the case so far shows that, while on a visit to a neighbor and friend of his, the defendant took advantage of his friend’s temporary absence – the latter having gone to a Collection Point for Ferrous Materials in the Braşov County - to have sexual intercourse with his daughter aged 9.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances of the case and establish the legal liability.
