PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bihor Tribunal have closed the indictment or the prosecution of the defendant Teodor-Elvis ANTAL for attempted first degree murder.

The evidence produced during the criminal investigation showed that, on May 24, 2011, the defendant was fishing together with several other persons on the banks of a lake in the Bihor County. A group of minors arrived and played for several hours on the same spot.

Around 5:00 PM, the defendant Teodor-Elvis Antal asked the injured party C.C.A. (aged 9) to go away. The injured party tried to obey and turned around to leave but the defendant threw an empty bottle of beer forcefully at him from a distance of approximately 3 meters, hitting the standing minor on the left side of the head.

The hit was forceful, causing a strong external hemorrhage followed, after a while, by the loss of conscience.

The legal medical report prepared in this case showed that, on May 24, 2011, the minor suffered a head trauma. Two surgical interventions were needed for this medical condition and the subsequent complication. The lesions were produced by hitting with a hard object (possibly a glass bottle), required 75 days of medical care, and posed a life-threatening danger for the victim, causing a disability.
