PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

A criminal case investigating the precise circumstances of the death of the minor T.L.R. aged 17 was docketed at the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu-Jiu Local Court.

The preliminary investigation revealed that, on August 10, 2011, the minor, who had been diagnosed with “chronic adenoamigdalitis” and hospitalized in the ORL section of the Târgu-Jiu County Emergency Hospital, died.

On November 11, 2011, prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Târgu Jiu Local Court ordered the institution of criminal investigations against the legal entity the Târgu-Jiu County Emergency Hospital for involuntary manslaughter, against B.C., medical doctor for involuntary manslaughter and falsification of a public instrument, and against I.L.M. for falsification of a public instrument.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances and establish the legal liability.
