PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

A criminal case investigating a murder committed is pending at the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Maramureş Courthouse on August 10, 2011.

From the evidence administered until now it results that, during June 2011, in short time after giving birth at its dwelling to a female fetus, without being assisted by qualified medical personnel, the mother of the new born, put her in a nylon bag, burying her afterwards, in the garden of the house.

At August 10, 2011, the case prosecutor ordered that the mother of the new born is hospitalized in a medical unit in order to perform some psychiatric expertise.  

Investigations are carried out to determine the circumstances of the act and the legal liability.
