PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

        On September 7, 2011, prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Moineşti Local Court submitted a pretrial arrest request against the defendants Lucian Vasile ACATRINEI, Ionuţ ALBU, and Valentin POPA for first-degree rape. The request was denied.

        The evidence produced so far in this case reveals that, on the night between September 5 and September 6, 2011, the defendants forced the injured party D.R.I. (aged 17) to have sexual intercourse with them.

        Investigations are carried out to clarify all the case aspects.
