PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

        On September 8, 2011, prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Arad Local Court issued a detention order for Vasile Alexandru OŞVAT for robbery.

        The prosecutors submitted to the court a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendant for 29 days. The request was granted by the Arad Local Court magistrates who issued a pretrial arrest warrant for 29 days against the defendant.

        The evidence produced so far has revealed the following:

On March 24, 2011, around 04:30 p.m., the defendant, with the complicity of the accused, the minor B.A.M., stole 800 lei from the cash register of a shop in the Arad municipality. The accused helped the defendant to take advantage of the assistant’s absence of mind. The defendant then resorted to violence against two persons who tried to stop him.
