PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

A case investigating the discovery, on December 7, 2011 around 2:00 PM, of the corpse of a newborn in the waste disposal area of the Baia Mare municipality was docketed at the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Baia Mare Local Court.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the newborn was a girl who had been born alive and on term.

Today, December 12, 2011, prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Maramureş Tribunal instituted the criminal proceedings against A.N. for infanticide.

Investigations are carried out to clarify the actual circumstances and establish the legal liability.
