PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

Today, October 10, 2011, prosecutors from the Mehedinţi Tribunal submitted to Court a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendant Viorel MIREA for rape.

The evidence produced so far has revealed that, in December 2009, the defendant engaged in repeated acts of sexual intercourse with the injured party P.I.M. aged 13, his concubine’s daughter, who gave birth to a baby.

Investigations are carried out to clarify all the circumstances of the case and establish the legal liability.
