PRESS RELEASE

The Public Information and Press Relations Bureau within the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice is authorized to bring to public knowledge the following:

A criminal file investigating a case of attempted rape of the minor P.B.N. aged 8 was docketed at the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Mureş Tribunal.

The first information gathered in the case shows that, on the evening of August 31, 2011, the defendant Alexandru OROSFOIAN aged 46, intoxicated with alcohol, took the minor from outside the building to his apartment where he started to kiss her on the mouth and on the abdomen, then took her clothes off and made her touch his penis. The girl finally managed to flee the apartment.

On September 5, 2011, the prosecutors ordered the defendant to be detained for 24 hours. They also submitted a request for the pretrial arrest of the defendant. The court granted the prosecutors’ request and issued a 15-day pretrial arrest warrant.

The minor was given psychological support to help her overcome the psychological trauma caused by the sexual aggression she had suffered.
